As it seems to happen with all remodeling, the cost of the restroom project has escalated. The original plan called for a budget of $20,000. However, when diocesan officials came to render approval for the project, they discovered asbestos-covered pipes in the crawl space under the church where the workers would be installing the water and sewage lines. The Diocese mandated abatement of the asbestos before work could commence. That will double the overall cost of the project, adding approximately another $20,000. To absorb this additional cost, I am seeking to revise the Case Statement of Campaign for the Church Alive! to include the restroom project. In accordance with Diocesan policies, this revision can be accomplished if the revision is published for two weeks in the Sunday bulletin so that donors are made aware of the proposed revision. After publication, and upon the approval of the Parish Pastoral Council and the Finance Council, the revision is accepted and Campaign Funds can be used for the new project.
