The Holy Father has invited all bishops and priests to join in this act of consecration.
Bishop Zubik will recite a Prayer of Consecration at all of his Masses on Friday. He has asked all priests in the diocese to do the same.
In the apparition of July 13, 1917 in Fatima, Our Lady had asked for the consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart, stating that if this request were not granted, Russia would spread "its errors throughout the world, promoting wars and persecution of the Church." Pope Pius Xll, on October 31, 1942, consecrated the whole world, and on July 7, 1952, he consecrated the peoples of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the Apostolic Letter Sacro vergente anno. On November 21, 1964, Pope Saint Paul VI renewed the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart in the presence of the Fathers of the Second Vatican Council. "Following the lead of Pope Francis, we need to continue to pray for the end of the war on Ukraine and that world leaders may find a bridge that brings the world to global peace," Zubik said.
