Dear Parishioners,
We have been busy preparing for the 2021-22 school year and are looking forward to sharing the many new developments with all of you on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 25, 2021. As you are all aware, COVID-19 is still very much a part of our lives. We will continue to follow guidance from the DOH, the CDC, and the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
We are excited to share some of the physical improvements that we have been able to make over our summer break. The roof has been replaced, the offices and some class- rooms have been painted, six classrooms have been carpeted along with the offices and the hallways. We are waiting on our grant approval for new SMART boards, air conditioners, air purifiers, and new tables and chairs for the cafeteria. We are planning on new water bottle refill stations as well. Our new STREAM Lab will be up and ready for the students to use. I am so excited for you all to see the improvements!!!!
While all of the physical changes are such a nice addition, I am happy to share some new and exciting additions to our already outstanding curriculum. Students will have one traditional music class each week along with our added band classes for all students in grades 4-7, in which students will be provided with an instrument. Teachers will also provide weekly STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, Math) lessons in our new well-stocked lab. Fr. Joachim, Fr. Canice, and Mrs. Martin will be team teaching religion class on Monday afternoons. Fr. Jean-Luc, Deacon David Schmidt, along with other guest presenters will join us based on availability. We will discuss topics in which students have expressed interest such as hierarchy of the Church, holy days and solemnities, lives of the apostles and saints along with many more. We are very blessed to have the support of our Benedictines and I encourage you to keep them in your prayers.
We are asking all parents to attend the back to school night on Monday, August 23, 2021. Grades K-3 will meet at 6PM and grades 4-8 will meet at 7PM. The teachers will present class rules, policies and expectations. These meetings offer valuable information and insights, and we encourage all parents to attend. Preschool orientation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 31, 2021. We will meet with the parents of the 3-year old class at 6PM and the parents of the 4- and 5-year old class at 7PM.
Please consider OLoF School for your children and grandchildren. Tuition is always a concern, but we do offer financial aid, according to need. Please call the school office, 724.375.7565 for additional information or check us out at www.ourladyoffatimahopewell.org.
Our students, faculty and staff pray for our parishioners each and every day as we work together to make Our Lady of Fatima a “Place Where Faith and Knowledge Meet.”
