On September 27th the Church celebrated the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul, who knew that “God had sent Him to bring good news to the poor”.  Together with your gifts, the members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul continue his work and mission in our parish.  In the month of September, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to “bring good news to the poor”, by assisting many families, providing food, assistance for utility and rent bills, etc.  Thank You! Though Faith Formation Classes (or CCD) at St. John the Baptist began on Sunday Sept. 22, 2019, you can still start coming to class on September 29, 2019 at 9:00AM and complete the registration process. (Click heading for further information on CCD)

Bible Study will meet on October 2, 2019 at 9:30AM in the Faith Formation Room located in St. John the Baptist Pastoral Center, 1501 Pennsylvania Avenue, Monaca.  We will continue our study of Job, chapters 22-24, using in the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible by Scott Hahn & Curtis Mitch (RSV 2nd Catholic Edition).  Come enjoy a coffee and donut and join in the discussion of our Faith.

Join Catholic Charities as they recognize Christina Starcher for her exemplary service to our parish and the community at the 29th Annual Father Marcus O’Brien Service Awards Dinner, on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at 4:30PM in The Club at Shadow Lakes, 2000 Beaver Lakes Blvd., Aliquippa. On Saturday, October 5, 2019, there will be the Blessing of Pets in the church parking lot of St John the Baptist Church at 1:15PM, rain or shine!  This tradition reminds us that we are all God’s stewards of creation and that we must protect and nurture all of God’s creatures.

Life is a gift from God.  We are called to protect and defend the sanctity and dignity of life from womb to tomb.  On Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 2:30PM to 3:30PM, you are invited to stand (or sit, as you are able) for Life on Third Street (Route 68) in Beaver for the Life Chain - Beaver County.  (click on heading for details)

Frs. Martin, Thomas More and Joachim will be attending the Triennial Priest Convocation held the first week in October.  There will be a morning Mass offered in our grouping each day beginning on Monday, September 30, 2019 thru Thursday, October 3, 2019.  An evening Mass will also be celebrated Monday, September 30, 2019 thru Wednesday, October 2, 2019.  (For schedule, click heading.)

Each year the Diocese of Pittsburgh recognizes the crowning achievement of those couples celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary in the current year with a Mass presided by Bishop Zubik at St. Paul’s Cathedral, followed by a light reception.  This year the celebration will take place on Sunday, November 17, 2019. In the gospel we see that prudent decisiveness means we recognize that all our choices in daily living are really choices for eternal life.  Admission into heaven is something money cannot buy.  The only currency that has any value to secure our entrance is that of love.  As you place your gift in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box, know that you are a sign of God’s love to those who are suffering.
